Big Muskie's Bucket in McConnelsville, Ohio was once the World's Largest Earth Moving Machine, capable of moving 39 million pounds of earth and rock every hour. Although the machine was dismantled in the late 1990s, the monstrous metal bucket remains as a centerpiece in Miners Memorial Park, serving as a memorial to the men and women who helped mine and reclaim the area.
Located on State Route 78, the park offers visitors a chance to learn about the history of Big Muskie and surface mining through interpretive displays. The well-maintained park also features picnic tables and a beautiful view of the valley that was once mined and destroyed by the machine.
