Golden Growers Cooperative (GGC) is a cooperative organization established in 1994 to provide corn growers in the Dakotas and Minnesota with a value-added processing opportunity. With approximately 1,500 members, GGC operates in partnership with Cargill Inc. as joint owners of ProGold, LLC, which owns a corn wet-milling plant near Wahpeton, North Dakota. The plant specializes in producing high fructose corn sweeteners, corn gluten feed, corn gluten meal, and corn oil.
Under Minnesota's statute 308B, GGC was re-organized in September 2009, allowing it to function as a cooperative while being taxed as a limited liability partnership. Membership is open to residents of all 50 states, including non-corn producers, although all members have an annual corn delivery obligation. The current lease agreement with Cargill, Inc. for the operation of the ProGold plant extends until December 31, 2026.
