Wrightsville Beach Museum of History is a community museum that preserves and describes the history of Wrightsville Beach, a barrier island. The Town of Wrightsville beach was incorporated in the spring of 1899 only to be destroyed by a major hurricane in August. By 1910 it was a beach resort complete with Big Band entertainments, a huge pavilion on the beach, large hotels, family cottages, and railroads and trolleys providing transportation. Today it is a family-oriented town with lovely beaches, full-service hotels, and fine and casual dining in an historic beach town. Come to the museum to experience this history and participate in our varied programs.
