History
In 1935, Dr. Harold L. Bacon came to live and to practice medicine in Bryson City. He rented an old white farmhouse that existed on the site that is now West Oak Bed & Breakfast and Cabins. A 200-year-old white oak tree stood guard before the old house. Dr. Bacon came to love the spot and to name it West Oak. Many years have passed, but the view and the tree that Dr. Bacon loved so well remain unchanged.
Specialties
West Oak offers visitors a unique variety of lodging options in the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina. There is a bed and breakfast in a log home, five historic cabins, and one vacation rental - a newly built mountaintop house. The bed and breakfast has four tastefully decorated guestrooms, which can be rented individually, or you can rent the entire house for your family or group. There are two rooms, which can be combined as a suite with living/dining room and private deck. The cabins are uniquely different and just as charming. One is a 100- year-old log cabin; and several 1940s-era cabins were relocated from the Fontana Dam Village and fully restored with kitchenettes. Whatever you are looking for Smoky Mountain lodging for your family, group or just a private getaway, West Oak has a mountain vacation rental that's just perfect for relaxation and fun.
