History
Carolina Grown began early work and planning in late 2009. In February 2010, the company owners (Joseph Allen, Victoria Allen, and Chris Lewis) packaged and delivered its first orders. The company began operations in the garage of the Allen household before moving into a warehouse space in April of 2010. The business was created out of a personal and community need for convenient access to healthy, local food. The owners realize, due to their own busy schedules, that not everyone has the time to go to the farmer's market each week. In addition to helping our local communities eat better by supporting organic and humane growers, the business also contibutes to the local economy by supporting local farms and producers. Carolina Grown began with a network of about a dozen farms that is now at close to 40 farms and producers and still growing. Farms began in the central part of NC, and now Carolina Grown incorporates farms and producers from the coast to the mountains.
