Benjamin Petty, MD, is a double-board-certified family physician and sports medicine specialist in Dunn, North Carolina, whos passionate about getting you active again. He received his doctor of medicine from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee, and completed a family medicine residency at the University of South Alabama. Dr. Petty then completed a sports medicine fellowship from Campbell Clinic Orthopedics in Memphis, Tennessee, one of the most prestigious orthopedic medical centers in the United States. In fact, Campbell Clinics doctors wrote the book on orthopedics, Campbells Operative Orthopaedics, now in its 13th edition, which is considered to be the preeminent international text on orthopedic surgery.He obtained additional training at the world-renowned Mayo Clinic and at The Orthobiologic Institute in Los Angeles, where he studied regenerative medicine.In addition to specializing in nonsurgical orthopedics, orthobiologics, sports medicine, and concussion management, Dr. Petty has extensive skills in advanced ultrasound techniques. His interest in sports-related concussions and traumatic brain injuries (TBIs) led him to become a Certified ImPACT Consultant for testing and treating neurocognitive issues in athletes.Due to his combined love for and expertise in sports and medicine, Dr. Petty has served as team physician for multiple high school and college teams. Hes also worked with professional athletes for the NBAs Memphis Grizzlies and the minor league baseball Memphis Redbirds.Dr. Petty has volunteered his services for the Rock n Roll Nashville Marathon, St. Jude Memphis Marathon, the professional tennis Memphis Open, and many other charitable sporting events. Hes a member of a number of professional organizations, including the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, Exercise is Medicine, and the American Academy of Family Medicine.Dr. Petty is married to Dr. Tiffany Petty, a pediatrician. He loves to spend time with their two sons, play basketball, run 5K races, and watch sports. Dr. Petty grew up in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and continues to be deeply involved in community activities.
