The Orange County Board of Education is the governing body of Orange County Schools. The board directs each school to develop a parental involvement plan, as well as works to ensure that every student develops self-respect, integrity and moral courage. It provides leadership and direction through the formulation of goals and objectives. The Orange County Board of Education also performs judicial functions by conducting hearings. The board creates policies that establish the standard, accountability and evaluation of essential operations of the school district, as well as purchases, acquires, sells, conveys and leases school properties. In addition, it considers budget recommended by the superintendent.
