North Carolina State Ports Authority operates North Carolina's ports of Wilmington and Morehead City, and inland terminals in Charlotte and Piedmont Triad at Greensboro. The ports authority, along with North Carolina Department of Commerce recruits retail distribution centers to the state, offers sites for distribution center placement, and a labor pool suited to fill material handling positions. The 45-foot channel at the Port of Morehead City makes it one of the deepest ports in the East Coast. It has two berths with state-of-the-art ship loaders, and a maximum load out rate of 3,000 tons per hour of bulk cargo, and dry-bulk and open storage facilities. Located on the east bank of Cape Fear River, Port of Wilmington offers facilities to handle containerized, bulk and break bulk cargoes. Its 42-foot channel allows container vessel customers an additional 15 percent vessel capacity. North Carolina State Ports Authority is located in Wilmington, N.C.
