The Middle Fork Greenway is a multi-use recreational trail project that aims to connect the towns of Blowing Rock and Boone in North Carolina. Developed by the Blue Ridge Conservancy in partnership with the Town of Blowing Rock, Town of Boone, and Watauga County, this greenway will provide safe and healthy access to the natural world for residents and visitors of all ages. With the completion of approximately 1.75 miles and 2.3 miles in progress, the Middle Fork Greenway will eventually span around 6.5 miles, connecting with the existing Boone Greenway and creating over 15 miles of contiguous trail.
Funding for this project is being secured through public grants and private donations, with private donations playing a critical role in attracting public dollars. Once completed, the greenway will not only offer recreational opportunities such as walking, jogging, cycling, rollerblading, and skateboarding, but it will also connect to various attractions and natural areas, including the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Mountains-to-Sea trail, Shoppes on the Parkway, Tweetsie, Mystery Hill, Appalachian Regional Health's hospital, and more. The Middle Fork Greenway is a community-driven effort led by the Blue Ridge Conservancy, Watauga County, the Town of Blowing Rock, and the Town of Boone, along with the support of numerous community organizations and volunteers.
