Established in 1979, Little River Volunteer Fire Department has been an integral part of the Penrose, NC community, operating out of two stations and boasting a fleet of eleven apparatus, including brush trucks, engines, tankers, service trucks, and rescue trucks, as well as cars, UTVs, and Zodiac Boats.
With a dedicated roster of forty-six firefighters, including nine officers and an active Junior Firefighter Program, Little River Volunteer Fire Department responds to a wide range of emergencies, including fire, medical, rescue, and hazardous materials incidents. In addition, they actively engage in community risk reduction programs, offering fire safety programs and CPR classes.
