The City of Henderson Public Works Department is responsible for vehicle maintenance, street repairs, solid waste collection and disposal and cemetery maintenance services. The department supervises divisions, including administration, garage, sanitation, street and cemetery. The street division provides maintenance of streets, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, storm drains and ditches. It also provides pothole patching, driveway pipe and storm drain installation, grass cutting, snow and ice removal and traffic signal maintenance services. Additionally, the department's sanitation division provides solid waste and loose leaf collection, brush and limbs chipping, landfill operations and curbside recycling services. Located in Henderson, N.C., its cemetery division is responsible for grass mowing and opening and closing graves.
