A man named Plumer Plemmons had a farm which Lorene and Seth Haynie from Decatur ,GA bought in the 1940's. The mountain farm t was a 65 acre tract (lots of woods).The Haynies decided to open a small inn. Hemlock Inn opened July 4, 1952 . The original building had only nine rooms, but that soon changed. After adding on over the years now making a total of 26 units. At first, Hemlock Inn was open only in the summer. Later, the fall and spring seasons were added. The Inn operated for two years without a telephone! In 1964, Georgia and Raymond Johnson, from Washington GA, bought Hemlock Inn. In 1968 John and Ella Jo Shell, from Marietta GA, bought the inn and moved up with their 2 daughters. The Shells ran the inn for 20 yrs until their youngest daughter and husband Laniey and Mort White moved up the help run the business. The White have been here for 23 yrs and now the Shells grandson and wife Chad and Maggie Gilbert have moved up to help run the Hemlock Inn!

The Hemlock Inn is a quiet country inn, known now a days as a bead and breakfast. we have been family owned and operated for 60 yrs. the Hemlock Inn opened July 4, 1952. Most people that have come to the Hemlock have been coming because of the Food, the view, and the local out door activities! We serve old style southern country cooking like your grandmother used to make on lazy Susan tables, family style. breakfast and dinner is included in your night stay. we serve things like pan fried chicken, roast beef, fresh trout just name a few! there are to TV's or phones in the rooms, we do have a TV room and WIFI in the main living area. most people come here are getting away from all that! if your coming in town and need a place to eat please call and make dinner or breakfast reservations at least 24 hours in advanced!
