The Greensboro Building Inspections Division, a part of the Engineering and Inspections Department, works with other departments in protecting the health, safety, and welfare of citizens by providing safe and reliable public infrastructure, homes and workplaces in Greensboro, N.C. It provides general construction, plumbing, heating and electrical inspections. It plans review services for all new construction, alterations, modifications and additions to existing structures and enforces local ordinances within the city. The division enforces the North Carolina State Building Code and local ordinances through plan review, permits, building and trades inspections, and minimum housing inspections. Additionally, it supervises and controls problems, such as overgrown lots and abandoned vehicles.
