Established in 1952 and located in Asheville, N.C., the Girl Scouts of Western North Carolina Pisgah Council is a nonprofit organization that serves girls and adults throughout 15 counties in western North Carolina, as well as the cherokee indian reservation. It also operates online shops that sell uniforms, sweatshirts, patches, pins, jewelry, gift items and sportswear. The organization organizes trips and tours for Daisy, Brownie, Juniors and Juliettes Girl Scouts. It also conducts special classes on topics related to environment, safety, animal care, creativity, diversity, substance abuse and computers. It offers a variety of activities, such as swimming, fishing, horse riding and wall climbing. The Girl Scouts of Western North Carolina Pisgah Council is a part of Girl Scouts of the USA, which is one of the premier leadership skill development organizations for girls. Founded in 1912, it serves more than 3.7 million girls worldwide.
