Located in Albemarle N.C., GHA, also known as Group Homes for the Autistic is a private, nonprofit organization that offers residential, day and community services for residents of North Carolina who are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. Established in 1978, it operates intermediate care facilities, such as group homes for the developmentally disabled and manages a supervised apartment program. It has a day services program that includes structured vocational training, and art, music and sensory therapy for adolescents and adults. The organization s supported employment program provides individualized job assessment and training services. It also operates an autism program for children through a contract with the Stanly County School System. The facilities operated by GHA are licensed by the Division of Facility Services of the North Carolina Department of Human Resources.
