Though Charlotte was once a sleepy outpost, it is home to one of the busiest international airports in the United States today. It’s nickname, the “Queen City,” dates back to 1768 when King George III, who still ruled the Colonies when European settlers chartered the town, christened the new hamlet Queen Charlotte after his wife. The county surrounding the town was named Mecklenburg in honor of the King’s birthplace in Germany. Though our design team could easily create a graceful room steeped in the charm of the Old South prior to the Revolutionary War, they are just as adept at composing a space befitting the forward-thinking locale the city is today!
