Fayetteville State University is a constituent institution of the University of North Carolina. The university provides liberal arts undergraduate programs, professional training and graduate programs for students. It is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The university offers bachelor s degrees in more than 40 subjects, including biotechnology, communications, forensic science, management information systems, criminal justice, sociology and generic nursing. It also offers more than 20 graduate courses in education, business administration, social work and educational leadership. Fayetteville State University has various clubs and student organizations, fraternities and sororities. The college campus is more than 92-acres, with residence halls, library, computer labs, media center and athletic facilities. Founded in 1867 in Fayetteville, N.C., the university is one of the oldest public institutions of higher learning for African-Americans in the state.
