Lumberton Police Department is responsible for preventing crime, enforcing laws and promoting safety through use of traditional and community policing methods, and problem solving. Its uniform patrol division provides a 24-hour coverage of the city by aggressive patrolling. It is also responsible for serving warrants and controlling traffic. The investigative division comprises detectives, who provide investigation and follow-up of crimes ranging from break-ins to homicides. The services provided by the juvenile services division include complaints related to juveniles, victims of sexual abuse, and child neglect and abuse. It also operates a special operations division that works on problems, such as violence intervention, littering and loitering, prostitution and narcotics. The department serves more than 20,000 residents. Lumberton Police Department has over 80 police officers, and is located in Lumberton, N.C.
