The Court of Appeals Clerk's Office is responsible for various clerical and record keeping functions of the superior court and district court. It handles the probate of wills and the administration of estates of decedents, minors and incompetents. The clerk s office also hears a variety of special proceedings, such as adoptions, incompetency determinations and the partitions of land. Located in Raleigh, N.C., the Court of Appeals Clerk's Office is empowered to issue arrest and search warrants and to exercise the powers as a magistrate related to taking the pleas of guilty to minor littering, traffic, wildlife, boating, marine fisheries, alcoholic beverage and state park recreation.
