Richmond Community College, located in Hamlet, N.C., is a two-year college focusing on technical and vocational education. Accredited by Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, it awards associate in arts, science and applied science degrees, and serves residents of Richmond and Scotland counties in the state. Founded in 1964, the college enrolls more than 2,200 students and offers more than 30 associate degree and certificate programs. It offers programs in practical nursing, business administration, architectural drafting, automotive mechanics, computer programming, mechanical engineering technology, office systems technology and radio and television servicing. Additionally, it provides programs in machining technology, industrial lab assistant, welding, general education, agricultural science and mechanization, criminal justice technology, industrial maintenance, fire science technology, electrical technology, accounting, and information systems. Richmond Community College offers various sports, including basketball, football, volleyball and softball.
