History
I moved my practice from Chapel Hill to Mebane earlier this year to provide Clinical Psychology services to residents of Northern Orange and Eastern Alamance Counties. Mebane is also centrally located between Durham and Greensboro.
Specialties
I received my PhD in Clinical Psychology from UNC-CH in 1993, and I also received a DrPH from UNC's School of Public Health in 1985. I practice within the general framework of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. This means that I emphasize what is happening right now. I view the therapeutic relationship as a collaboration between patient and therapist, with the goal of improving the nature of the patient's thoughts, feelings and behaviors. I listen to and I care about what my patients are thinking and feeling and do my best to be accessible and supportive. The major outcome of therapy is the development of a set of tools, techniques, and ways of thinking that can be applied to successfully manage difficult life situations.
