Founded in 1956, the Bakers Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department specializes in fire prevention and confined space, rope and water rescue services. The department also operates a Ladies Auxiliary and wild land fire suppression units. It maintains a fleet of trucks, hydraulic extrication tools, automated external defibrillators, water tanks, deluge guns, forestry rakes, winches, chain saws and other fire extinguishing equipment. The Bakers Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department offers fire fighting training programs and medical care services. The department provides rescue services from vehicle and house fire.
