Founded in 1928, American Children's Home is a nonprofit organization. It began as an orphanage for children of members of the Junior Order United American Mechanics, which is one of the oldest patriotic fraternities in the United States. The organization receives funds from private individuals, businesses, churches, civic groups and foundations. American Children's Home offers foster family, pre-school day, therapeutic foster and school-age day care services. The organization provides vocational education through community college, secondary vocational education, technical and college training, on-campus library and learning center. American Children's Home is nationally accredited by the Council on Accreditation and member of the Alliance for Children and Families. It is located in Lexington, N.C.
