The Jewish Community Center, located in Stamford, Conn., is a nonprofit organization that provides educational programs, recreational and cultural activities and social services to the Jewish community. It has been operational for more than 90 years and also serves the Greenwich, Darien, and New Canaan cities in Connecticut, as well as Bedford, Texas and Pound Ridge, N.Y. The center operates early childhood programs and operates the JCC Sara Walker Nursery School that serves children up to the age of 5 years. It provides an interactive learning environment through hands-on exhibits and it emphasizes the physical and social developmental needs of children. Additionally, the Jewish Community Center organizes summer programs that provide various extracurricular and sports activities for children in grades one through six, such as arts and crafts, music, cooking, swimming, dance, basketball and soccer. It also offers various social programs and personal and professional growth opportunities for adults and teenagers that include Shabbat and Purim parties, skiing trips, cultural programs and trips to the Jewish Museum.
