If you're a wine enthusiast from New York City, there is a very big possibility you've heard of the Pagano Family. A regular staple of the Brooklyn Terminal Market in Canarsie, The Pagano's started bringing grapes from California over 70 years ago and have been in the business ever since. It goes without saying that they take the wine grape business seriously and love what they do. Driven by an insatiable desire to deliver the best fruit possible, company founder Peter Pagano spent much of his life perfecting his craft in order to better serve his growing customer base. After decades in the trenches he learned that the quality of grapes varies from year to year depending on weather patterns and conditions on the ground. Despite a farmer's best efforts, the hard truth is that some harvests will yield excellent fruit in abundance, while others produce only marginal quantities. Mr. Pagano learned that in order to circumvent this challenge presented by the elements, important steps must be taken to ensure quality on a consistent basis. Managing temperatures proved to be one of the most integral parts of this process, which is why our California juice is always refrigerated at the ideal temperature for each strain of grape from point of origin to our cold storage here in New York.
