History
Village Apothecary, a family owned business, was started in 1982 by Michael Konnon. In 1985 Village Apothecary found itself in the middle of the HIV/AIDS crisis and took the lead by stocking and offering the only available HIV/AIDS drug, Retrovir (AZT), at 10% over it's direct cost - a first in the pharmacy community. In 1995 Michael Konnon's nephew, George Manos, took over Village Apothecary and has continued to this day the tradition and legacy that Michael Konnon envisioned. Since 1982, Village Apothecary has supported and continues to support many community/neighborhood events and projects, such as, youth sports teams, adult softball teams, The Charles Street Planting and Heritage of Pride.
