Vera was one of six children, born in rural Augusta, Georgia to Emily and Pete Davis. Raised on a farm, she learned the gift of southern flavor from watching her mother cook. Grandma Vera's passion and commitment to quality using fresh ingredients and making food from the soul is the devoted centerpiece of Vera's. Our recipes are family secrets, over 100 years old, passed down from grandma Vera's grandmother, known as Big Mama. As a great teacher, Big Mama's careful recipes, technique, and devotion to southern cooking is the foundation of Vera's today.
