USTA Billie Jean King Tennis Center is a stadium located in New York City, New York. USTA Billie Jean King Tennis Center currently houses 22 tennis courts that are used for the renown U.S. Open. The center opened as the USTA National Tennis Center in 1978 with the construction taking just over a year and a half. In 2006 the center was named in honor of famed tennis player Billie Jean King.The Arthur Ashe Stadium currently holds 23,200 fans. All the seating is reserved for the U.S. Open. Currently, it was the largest within the USTA Billie Jean King Tennis Center. The Louis Armstrong Stadium currently holds 10,200 fans. Courtside seating is reserved for the U.S. Open, the rest is on a first-come, first-served basis. Currently, it was the second largest within the USTA Billie Jean King Tennis Center. In total there is 33 tennis courts within the facility. Currently underway is a $550 million renovation, which will add retractable roofs to the Arthur Ashe and Louis Armstrong stadiums.The U.S. Open is a tennis tournament that is the final part of the Grand Slam Championship each year. It begin back in 1881 and has been played at the USTA Billie Jean King since 1978. The tournament is held in August and September, the rest of the year the courts are available to the public. The majority of tickets for the U.S. Open are available through ticket exchanges ranging from $26 to $1,250.
