Sustainable Tompkins
Sustainable Finger Lakes, formerly known as Sustainable Tompkins, is a non-profit organization based in Ithaca, NY. Since its establishment in 2008, the organization has been dedicated to promoting environmental sustainability, equity, and social justice in Tompkins County. Through their Neighborhood Mini-Grant Program, they have awarded over $85,000 in grants to support grassroots projects that focus on sustainable food systems, alternative transportation, waste reduction, energy conservation, and environmental education. The program is open to individuals, organizations, neighborhood groups, and local microbusinesses, with priority given to new and small entities with limited sources of support. The Neighborhood Mini-Grant Program has had a significant impact on the community, supporting initiatives such as the establishment of farmers markets, toy libraries, neighborhood gardens, trail restorations, and bicycle maintenance education workshops. Sustainable Finger Lakes is currently accepting applications for their fall 2023/winter 2024 round of grants, with proposals reviewed by a team of community members. The program is sponsored by NYSEG, Craig Riecke, and local donors, and aims to create a more sustainable, resilient, and inclusive community in Tompkins County.Generated from the website
