The Urban Assembly is a nonprofit organization that creates and manages a community of New York City Public Schools dedicated to preparing students from under-resourced neighborhoods for success in colleges. Founded in 1990, the organization operates more than 16 high and junior high schools that serve over 4,300 students. It also operates an academy for arts and literature that serves students in grades 6 through 12. The Urban Assembly provides classes in math, science and business. In addition, its partners include the Fashion Institute of Technology, New York City Department of Design & Construction, Brooklyn Law School, the Red Hook Community Justice Center and Bronx Court Complex. The Urban Assembly maintains a location in New York City.
