Built in 1874, the Hudson-Athens Lighthouse is one of only three lighthouses in the middle of the Hudson River. The lighthouse sits on wooden pilings that were planted 40 feet deep into the river's bedrock. This structure is an architectural and engineering marvel which to this day has withstood the raging waters and harsh winter. It's truly a beacon of resiliency, strength, fortitude and hope for future generations. Currently, the 148 year old lighthouse need restoration and repair in order for the structure and its foundation to last for another 150 years.
