Temple Beth Elohim was founded in the spring of 1955, when 18 families decided to establish a Reform congregation in the rapidly growing Plainview community. Temple Beth Elohim of Brooklyn donated a Torah to the founders, a Torah which had been smuggled out of Nazi-occupied Poland. In gratitude, this new congregation named itself Temple Beth Elohim. The congregation invites the community to join them every Friday night at 7:30 to welcome Shabbat, enjoy community, friendship, prayer, music and learning.
