The Suffolk County Water Authority, also known as SCWA, is a nonprofit organization that offers various community-based services. Established in 1951, the authority serves more than 300,000 residential and business customers. The Suffolk County Water Authority s water testing laboratory works to test the presence of pesticides, herbicides and industrial chemicals in drinking water. The authority participates in the Source Water Protection Awards to recognize individuals, groups, businesses, educational and research institutions and government agencies who work towards the preservation of quality and quantity of drinking water. It conducts several educational outreach program provides information about water cycle and conservation for students in grades four through eight. The authority provides online bill payment services, as well as tips related to water conservation. The Suffolk County Water Authority is located in Coram, N.Y.
