Stray Haven Humane Society & SPCA is a dedicated and compassionate organization that has been serving Tioga County, NY and the Greater Valley, PA for over 50 years. With the help of their amazing volunteers and dedicated staff, they provide educational programs and short-term residential care for adoptable animals, ensuring the protection and well-being of animals in the area. Stray Haven is committed to their no-kill policy and tirelessly fundraises to cover medical and hygiene costs for their animals, striving to find them their perfect forever homes.
Established in 1967 by founder Elaine Forkan, Stray Haven Humane Society started as a volunteer-operated non-profit organization, using an old smokehouse called O'Brien's. Since becoming a 501c3 in 1971, they have grown and moved to their current location in Waverly, NY. In 2011, they proudly transitioned to becoming a no-kill shelter, providing a safe haven for animals in need. Stray Haven's mission is to protect animals through education and service, making a positive impact on the lives of both animals and the community they serve.
