Variety Child Learning Center

Variety Child Learning Center, founded in 1966 and located in Syosset, N.Y., is a nonprofit center providing child development programs and special education services to young children and their families. It offers services to children with learning disabilities, autism, developmental disorders and behavior problems. The organization provides special education programs and services at no cost to families living in Nassau, Suffolk and Queens counties in New York. It also offers support services for families, and research and training of early childhood personnel. VCLC provides special programs and services on- and off-site. North Ward Center is located in the former William Clark House that was built in 1879. Its mission is to provide educational, cultural and social service programs to low income families residing in Essex County in Newark, N.J. The nationally registered historic mansion provides senior citizen transportation, youth and family outreach, a workforce foundation, after school enrichment, community affairs activities and diversity and cultural awareness. North Ward plays a major role in helping overcome barriers that prevent self-sufficiency and assist people in neighborhood revitalization by helping them become tax-paying citizens who are educated, responsible and productive members of society.
