St. Bonaventure University, founded in 1858, offers a range of educational and extracurricular programs to students. The university requires students to take 40 percent of their total credits in core liberal arts courses, such as literature, history, philosophy, classics, art and fundamental sciences. The college offers more than 30 undergraduate majors, including elementary education, journalism, psychology, accounting, marketing, finance and management. It has an undergraduate enrollment of over 2,200 students. The University is also the home of the Franciscan Institute, that is the center for research on the history and philosophy of Franciscan values. More than 80 percent of the University faculty has a doctorate of philosophy degree or equivalent, and over 90 percent of its students receive financial aid. The university is located in St. Bonaventure, N.Y.
