Southampton Fresh Air Home, founded in 1901, is one of the few residential camp facilities in the eastern United States that accommodates severely, mildly and moderately physically challenged children. The camp provides an environment in which campers play, socialize, mature and develop physically, emotionally and psychologically. With its unique atmosphere and varied programs, the camp encourages self-confidence and new skills and attitudes. Southampton Fresh Air Home provides an authentic camping experience for every one of its campers. Days begin with flag raising before breakfast. There are sports activities, computer classes, arts and crafts, and swimming. Campers enjoy outings, cookouts, camp-outs or activities at night. Activities are varied and adapted for the ability and dexterity levels of the campers. The camp has three-week and one-week sessions each summer, serving children ages 8 through 16 years, occasionally accepting older campers for specially designed programs. The camp is small, with a home-like environment. Meals are served family style with staff and campers dining together. We can accommodate up to 55 campers at a time. Its counselors are college students studying special education, physical or occupational therapy, psychology or nursing.
