Chief John Valentine oversees the town divisions of emergency management, fire prevention, investigations, park ranger, water and navigation. Many of these divisions operate 24 hours each day to ensure the constant safety of all Smithtown residents. The department also managers the ICE (in case of emergency) campaign, which urges residents to turn their cell phones into a source of information during serious accidents, crimes and disasters.
