Founded in 1883, The Salvation Army of the Syracuse Area is a nonprofit organization that administers a variety of programs and services to more than 30,000 individuals annually. It coordinates over 35 programs and has operations in several areas of Onondaga County in New York. The Salvation Army of the Syracuse Area provides life skill training and outreach and counseling services for homeless youths. It also offers food and gifts for low-income families during holidays. The organization is a part of The Salvation Army, which is an international association with operations in 100 countries. The parent organization provides early education, child welfare, emergency disaster and juvenile justice services.
