"A Place of Hope for People with Disabilities and their Families" is the motto of the Rockland County Association for Learning Disabilities (RCALD). This is a not-for-profit agency that offers services such as social and vocational skills for people with learning and developmental disabilities. The organization's goal is to help its members lead productive and independent lives. Support and education to families is also offered. RCALD offers a wide range of services and programs from a day camp for children and adolescents to a weekly bowling league. A full list of what RCALD offers is on its website.
Programs for those with disabilities include employment, residential, family support, social and recreational. RCALD serves Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster and Westchester counties.
A group of concerned parents and local school district professionals started this association 42 years ago and it grew from there.
