JASA, also known as the Jewish Association for Services for the Aged, was created as a multiservice, autonomous agency that is affiliated with the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies. Established in 1968, it is one of the largest community-based, voluntary social service agencies that serves elderly people in the United States. The association works to sustain and enrich the lives of senior citizens in the New York metropolitan area. JASA works to enrich the lives of more than 55,000 senior citizens in New York City through a range of programs and services. It also operates the JASA's Institute for Senior Action, which trains over 550 senior leaders to be activists for issues affecting elderly people.
