P.S. 81, also known as the Thaddeus Stevens School, serves grades pre-K to 5. Cheryl Ault-Barker has served as the school's principal since 2003. Two of the school's teachers started a program called Young, Elegant Sisters of Substance (YESS). The program's volunteers focus on self-esteem and good decision-making for girls at the schools, as they head into junior high. P.S. 81 is a part of the Children's First Network. The school has an enrollment of about 460 students total, with a 13-to-1 student-to-teacher ratio. The PTA is very active.
