The Polish Army Veterans Association-Amer, also known as SWAP, is the oldest independent self-help organization for former Polish soldiers, operating continuously since 1921. Based in New York City, SWAP is located in the SWAP Polish Veterans Home on Manhattan's East 15th Street, which houses their main headquarters, organizational archives, and the Museum of Polish Army Traditions established in 1996. SWAP's extensive archival collection includes over 20,000 personal files of veterans from both World Wars who have been or are currently members of the association, as well as a register of over 38,000 volunteers from the United States and Canada who served in the Polish Army in France from 1917 to 1919.
