History
Opened in 1942 on Great Jones Street in the Bowery, Old Man Paretti knew the ins and outs of shifty business opportunities. Fresh from prohibition, James Paretti scrimped and saved while slinging whiskeys at a local dive serving the commuter crowd in midtown. Opening his own liquor store was exactly what his family needed to thrive in the mean streets of Old New York. Passed down for generations, only changing hands as daughters got married, Paretti's liquors may no longer be located on the isle of Manhattan, but its scrappy past is still present in this long standing bullet-proof glass testament to Long Island City.
