History
New Amsterdam School provides a full early childhood program, preschool, and elementary grades 1-5. A tranquil oasis in the East Village, NAS offers a warm, home-like campus, outdoor kindergarten, project-based learning, multidisciplinary arts curriculum, foreign languages, and rigorous academics. With more than a dozen languages spoken, the New Amsterdam community embraces diversity, fosters inclusivity, and honors the uniqueness of each child. Founded in 2006, New Amsterdam School began as a grassroots alliance of educators, parents, and community leaders determined to bring the benefits of Waldorf education to Lower Manhattan. NAS is a member of WECAN and an associate member of AWSNA.
