Nassau University Medical Center, located in East Meadow, N.Y., is a more than 630-bed tertiary care teaching hospital. The medical center is affiliated with the North Shore-LIJ Health System and the Health Sciences Center of the State University of New York at Stony Brook. It has a staff of more than 3,500 that treats over 80,000 persons annually in the emergency department. Additionally, it provides services to more than 200,000 people in over 80 specialized clinics. Patient services include outpatient primary care clinic, inpatient AIDS unit, women's services, case management, entitlement assistance, social work services, and treatment adherence. The hospital also offers home care services, counseling and testing for HIV, psychosocial support, parent-child support group health education, pastoral care, referral services to other hospital departments for special care, and substance abuse services. In addition, it offers primary care services.
