Dr. Mehran Habibi is equipped with an extensive background in surgical oncology of the breast and managing complex cases. His expertise encompasses Oncoplastic and Nipple Sparing mastectomies, risk-reducing mastectomies, hidden scar surgery, nerve-preserving mastectomy, and intraoperative margin assessment.Dr. Habibi extends his research to investigate tumor genomics and the microbiome's interaction with breast cancer and systemic therapy. He also has a commitment to his research on wire-free tumor resection and the role of tissue mechanics in breast cancer. These areas of research have the potential to aid in the design of personalized cancer treatments and decrease disparities in cancer care, aligning with Northwell's strategic mission.After earning his medical degree at Islamic Azad University in Tehran, Dr. Habibi completed his residency at Pennsylvania Hospital and St. Luke s in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; followed by a Fellowship in Complex Surgical Oncology at the Medical College of Virginia. He also holds an MBA from Virginia Commonwealth University before he started his tenure at Johns Hopkins University.Dr. Habibi has a passion for photography, tennis, swimming, and an artistic flair in the kitchen as a pastry chef. Incorporating these varied interests into his life allows Dr. Habibi to bring a unique blend of skills and perspectives to his medical practice Dr. Habibi leads the Florina Rusi Marke Comprehensive Breast Center as a Regional Chief of Breast Surgery for the Western Region, Director of the Breast Program for Staten Island University Hospital, and Director of International Program Development for Breast Surgery. His research, innovative thinking, and unwavering dedication to patient well-being promise to drive groundbreaking advancements in breast surgery and research.
