Mount Vernon High School was founded in 1894 and provides learning opportunities to more than 2,500 students in grades 9 through 12. Several present celebrities have passed out from the school, including Earl Tatum, Art Carney, E.B. White and Terrie Williams. Its academic curriculum includes various subjects, such as art, international languages, math, science, English, language arts and social studies. The school offers a special education program for students with special needs. The high school is a part of the Mount Vernon City School District and is located in Mount Vernon, N.Y. The school district participates in an educational and philanthropic program, Samsung's Hope for Education, which is designed to minimize the technology gap that exists in today's educational system.
