Merrick Community nursery School is celebrating 50 years of providing quality preschool education for children in Merrick, Bellmore, North Merrick, North Bellmore, Wantagh, Freeport and surrounding communities. Founded in Merrick in 1955, Merrick Community Nursery School is non-profit, non-sectarian and interracial. Chartered and registered by the University of the State of New York. We are also licensed by the Office of Children and Family Services. Many of the teachers Merrick Community have advanced degrees. They have specialized in early childhood education because they love the process of watching young children learn. They bring to class many years of experience, their own enthusiasm for science, literature and math and the ability to present age appropriate projects in original and exciting ways. Our teachers continue to learn by regularly attending workshops and conferences. Parents, extended family members, or caregivers participate in their child's classroom on a rotation schedule by bringing a snack to share and becoming a teacher's helper . This provides an important early bond for the home school network. Parents are encouraged to share their special talents with the class anytime from storytelling, to music, to cooking a special snack together. New option: Non-Participation fee schedule for working parents or parents unable to help monthly in the classroom. Call for more information.
