Founded in 1973, the Center for Dispute Settlement provides mediation, arbitration and facilitation services. The organization is dedicated to promoting alternative dispute resolution processes that enables citizens to resolve conflicts without litigation. It also strives to provide peaceful resolution of disputes through alternative dispute resolution processes, such as conciliation, mediation and arbitration. The Center for Dispute Settlement employs a team of trained volunteers, consultants and professional staff. Its programs include City Housing Arbitration Program (CHAP), Surrogate Decision Making Program (SDMC) and New York State Agricultural Mediation Program (NYSAMP).
